AMA Board Member Michael Lock
Born: 1965 in London, England
First bike: Yamaha FSI-E (a 50cc cafÈ racer bike)
Motorcycling experience: Riding for nearly 30 years, mainly street bikes and sportbikes.
Life experience: Currently chief executive officer for Ducati North America, with experience in the past as European sales coordinator for Honda, CEO of Triumph North America, commercial director for Metropolis Developments and marketing director at Domus Tiles Ltd.
Proudest achievements: Many, many. My wedding day; the birthdays of both my kids; Employee of the Year at Honda (UK) in ’89; launch of the Ducati 1098, the most successful Ducati in our history.
Why you ride: The freedom from ordered life, the thrill of speed and the camaraderie of riding with friends.
Favorite current bike: Ducati Hypermotard S. It makes no rational sense at all, but is a blast to ride.
Best bike ever: Honda RC30 (VFR750R). Honda showed the world that they could build a fantasy bike, dripping with real race technology. It was a very visceral experience to ride.
AMA Member since: 2003.
Why you are an AMA Board member: I would like to contribute to the development of our sport, and I feel that Ducati has matured to the point that it has a responsibility to be seen and heard.
The biggest challenge facing motorcycling: Same as ever, the fear the public has for our safety.
