Help us name the AMA Road Rider of the Year
Posted November 21, 2008
The AMA invites nominations for the prestigious AMA Road Rider of the Year award for 2008. The AMA Road Rider of the Year embodies the spirit of AMA Road Riding through involvement in AMA clubs, leadership in road riding activities, community involvement, and protecting motorcyclists' rights and supporting the Association as a whole. Nominations will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2009.
Each nomination must include the following, at a minimum:
- A one-page, double-spaced biography of the nominee focusing on his or her riding history and accomplishments
- Supporting documentation, including newspaper articles, letters of reference, and a listing of other prestigious awards
- At least one high-resolution photo of the nominee, preferably in a riding setting
AMA Road Rider of the Year is generally awarded to recognize a lifetime achievement in riding, although much weight is placed on recent accomplishments and current activities. Nominees must not have been previously awarded Road Rider of the Year or currently be under consideration for other AMA awards, including consideration for induction into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame. Nominees may have been considered previously for the award; however, nominations must be resubmitted each year a nominee is to be considered for the award.
A panel of AMA staff from many disciplines will evaluate each nomination package against set criteria, and selection for the award will be made based on overall combined scores in both objective and subjective areas.
Nomination packages must be addressed to AMA Riding, and sent to the attention of Joey Funtjar, Road Riding Coordinator at the AMA Headquarters at 13515 Yarmouth Dr., Pickerington, OH 43147. Nomination packages will not be returned and packages received after Jan. 31, 2009 will not be considered.
