Don't forget: July 19 is Ride to Work day

Gas isn't getting cheaper. Traffic isn't getting any thinner. Cars still don't lean into corners and there's no feeling the morning breeze in your face if you're riding the bus.

If somehow those aren't enough reasons to ride your motorcycle to work, there's still Ride to Work Day. It's always the third Wednesday in July, which falls on July 19 this year, and it's the day we motorcyclists turn out in numbers to show the world that motorcycles are viable transportation.

Ride to Work logoIf you haven't already, you can learn all about Ride to Work Day at the Ride to Work website. You'll find lots more reasons why riding your motorcycle makes sense on the weekdays, as well as weekends, get advice on commuting, learn about efforts to make our workplaces, parking areas and cities more motorcycle-friendly, and even read blogs written by committed motorcycle commuters.

To get you in the mood (or maybe just make you jealous), you can also read about some AMA members whose rides to work are among some of the best rides anywhere, in Commutes to Envy. We gathered these stories last year by asking members to tell us about their rides to work. You'll be amazed how good some of those rides are.

Meanwhile, don't forget Ride to Work Day. See you on the road.
