AMA/FMF National Hare & Hound Series race reportsRound 2
David Pearson backed up his first-round win with a second victory two weeks later at round two near Ridgecrest, California, hosted by the Four Aces Motorcycle Club. Pearson, riding a KTM, took the lead on the bomb run and led through every checkpoint en route to victory. Kawasaki-mounted Destry Abbott of Peoria, Arizona, took second to Pearson, just as he did in round 1. Abbott finished less than 5 seconds behind Pearson in the 3-loop, 97-mile race. Josh Morros, of Sparks, Nevada, took third place, finishing over 6 minutes behind second place. Round 1
Course conditions were nearly perfect for the opening round of the AMA/FMF National Hare & Hound Series at the Johnson Valley OHVA in Lucerne, California, as heavy rains fell the night before the event. KTM rider David Pearson was first to the bomb, followed closely by Destry Abbott on a Kawasaki. Pearson lead the first loop and entered the pits approximately 30 seconds ahead of Abbott. Dave Kamo on a KTM followed approximately 30 seconds later. The 1-2-3 order was maintained throughout the more technical second loop of the race. Pearson and Abbott stayed approximately 30 seconds apart but extended their lead slightly over third place Kamo. © 2008, American Motorcyclist Association |
