Day Four: U.S. women still in first, men in top 10Story and photos by Steve Berkner U.S. Trophy Team rider Kurt Caselli dropped behind France's Johnny Aubert for the unofficial ISDE overall during Day Four of the International Six Days Enduro. Caselli's day was hampered by a series of falls that left the California desert ace just off Aubert's pace. Caselli still holds a commanding lead in the E3 class, with more than two minutes separating him and Finland's Marko Tarkkala, who is second in the class.
Aubert leads the E2 class, where he was battling Finland's Juha Salminen for the class lead before Salminen blew up his engine in the final test of the day. The U.S. Women's World Cup team took back nearly 8 minutes to extend their lead to 43 minutes over the French women's team. Both teams have all of their riders intact going into the last full day of racing. The U.S. Junior Trophy Team dropped to seventh place while the U.S. World Trophy Team dropped to ninth as the brutal trail pace has started to take its toll on rider and machine. © 2007, American Motorcyclist Association |
