Scoring issues leave U.S. riders' status uncertain at ISDEBy Steve Berkner Organizers are reviewing the scoring over the first three days of the 81st Maxxis International Six Days Enduro and it appears that Day Two reports that U.S. rider Kurt Caselli had finished first overall in his class were incorrect. "We regret that some early information was incorrect," said Terry Stevenson, ISDE media coordinator. "We are working with the FIM to put out information in a timely manner, but a few glitches popped up concerning official scoring and unofficial scoring." Stevenson said some of the results posted on the ISDE website were unofficial. "The website is unfortunately not up to the minute," Stevenson said. "Because of the large numbers of riders at this year's ISDE, transponders are not used and all of the riders' times have got to be checked before they become official. Once they become official, then, if need be, the times are adjusted on the website." Reports that Caselli was leading his category after day two were incorrect. Updated scores show Caselli finished Day One in eighth place and moved up to seventh after Day Two. "We apologize for any misinformation and are trying to make sure it does not happen again," Stevenson said. According to the updated scores, the overall winner on Day One was France's Marc Germain, while Juha Salminen was first overall on Day Two and Day Three. More results will be reported as they are confirmed. © 2006, American Motorcyclist Association |
