Day 3
Sept. 26 – After freezing
rain last evening, riders awoke to temperatures of 1.5° C (34°F). Sleet
and rain were on the menu for Day 3. There was actually snow on the route
to Enduro Test 2.
The organizers posted a "B" schedule, but the Jury modified it by adding
five minutes going into check 2 because the speeds were impossible.
All Team USA riders that had not been excluded previously started the
day. The World Trophy Team zeroed the course today.
Several riders (all countries) were radared and given warnings as they
came out of impound this evening.
World Trophy team rider Fred Hoess related a spiritually uplifting story.
On Day 1, Fred found himself with an overheated Husqvarna and a dry radiator.
While sitting along side the trail pondering his next move, a Czech Course
Marshall wearing the #1 bib arrived and proceeded to grab on to Fred's handlebars.
After a brief period of tug-of-war, Fred realized the Marshall was offering
him the use of his 1980's Jawa to go find water. Fred rode to the nearest
village, rummaged through a trash bin to locate something to hold water.
After finding a container, he spotted a nearby church, where the only water
available was HOLY. So Fred's Husqvarna is now truly blessed.
Stay tuned...
